Elected Officials Council – May 22, 2025
Join us for an important update from the South Sound Military and Communities Partnership (SSMCP) as we share the latest work from the Partnership, as well as updates from Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) and the surrounding Pierce and Thurston Counties.
The program will feature remarks from key regional leaders, including representatives from the South Sound, the 10th Congressional District, and a General Officer from JBLM’s I Corps. Attendees will also get an update on SSMCP’s 2025 Legislative Agenda, followed by an update on the organization’s activities for 2025, presented by SSMCP staff.
This event is open to all SSMCP members and stakeholders, and offers a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about the important work being done to support our military community and local regions.

Military Child Education Symposium
Symposium will take place on May 1, 2025, at Bates Technical College – South Campus. This half-day event will bring together educators, policymakers, and community leaders to explore strategies for supporting the educational and social growth of military-connected children. With a focus on fostering military cultural competency, understanding the unique challenges of military families, and providing behavioral health support, this symposium offers attendees the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions and collaborate with experts in the field. Whether you’re an educator, policymaker, or community advocate, this event provides valuable tools and resources to help military kids thrive academically and socially.
